The founder's story
Qalam is the Urdu word for a pen. I chose it because the most useful things I have learned came to me written down: a teacher's notes, a senior colleague's spreadsheet, a page of phrases a friend gave me before an interview. None of it was polished. All of it was practical, and I could go back to it whenever I needed it.
I started Qalam Educative after watching capable people get stuck on the same small gaps. A graduate who kept failing the Excel round. A home baker who wanted to sell on Instagram but had no idea where to start with design. A friend who understood every word in an interview and still could not answer out loud. None of them needed another degree. They needed one practical skill, taught plainly, at a price that made sense.
What was available to them sat at two extremes. On one side, free videos that stopped just before the useful part. On the other, long programmes costing tens of thousands of rupees, with a sales call before you were allowed to see the syllabus. I wanted something in between: a small library where every product says exactly what is inside, costs what a student or young professional can actually pay, and belongs to you once you have paid for it.
So that is how this store works. There are no subscriptions and no accounts to create. You pay once, you download the files, and they stay on your phone or laptop. If a title is revised, you get the new edition free. If something is wrong with a file, you write to us and we fix it.
Each product is built around tasks rather than theory. The Excel workbook uses spreadsheets that look like the ones you will be handed at work. The English workbook uses situations you will actually face, not textbook dialogues. The courses come with the practice files used in the lessons, so you can follow along instead of only watching.
